Troubadours waren middeleeuwse zangers in dienst bij een heer of stad. De eerste troubadours leefden in de elfde eeuw in Zuid-Frankrijk, maar later waren er ook troubadours actief in Italië, Spanje en Portugal. Ongeveer gelijktijdig ontstond in Noord-Europa een gelijkaardige beweging; deze van de minnezangers. De meeste teksten van troubadours bezongen de hoofse liefde. De kunst der troubadours verdween in de veertiende eeuw samen met de vernietiging van de Occitaanse cultuur. De bedoeling van dit ontwerp was om de Troubadour een dynamische pose aan te meten. Troubadours were composers and performers of songs during the European High Middle Ages. The first troubadours lived in the eleventh century in southern France and subsequently spread throughout Italy, Spain, and Portugal. Simultaneous movements, those of the minnesinger, sprang up in northern Europe. Many texts of troubadour songs deal with themes of chivalry and courtly love. The art of the troubadours declined in the late thirteenth century and died out in the fourteenth. The aim of this design was to put the Troubadour in a dynamic pose.
