Text Box: The Canadian Burkholderia
cepacia complex Research and
Referral Repository
Text Box: The Canadian Burkholderia cepacia complex Research and Referral Repository (CBCRRR), situated at the University of British Columbia, is supported by grants from the Candian Cystic Fibrosis Foundation. It has been supplying epidemiological information and confirmation of identification of B. cepacia complex to Canadian cystic fibrosis clinics since 1992. More recently the CBCRRR has been at the forefront of research into genomovar identification of the B. cepacia complex.

The Canadian BCRRR provides the following services for a nominal charge to laboratories supporting Canadian CF clinics:
· Confirmation of B. cepacia complex identification by biochemical, molecular and sequencing methodology.
· Genotyping of isolates by RAPD (random amplified polymorphic DNA) typing for epidemiological studies.
· Strain repository

These services are also available to non-Canadian CF centres and laboratories.
