Talking about and perceiving moving objects

exploring the bridge between natural language, perception and formal ontologies of space.

Call for Contributions

The relevant topics of the workshop include, but are not limited to the following:

  • How does one classify motion events?
  • How does one formalize motion verbs?
  • Is a formal classification the same as a psychologically plausible classification?
  • What representational form does a motion classification take?
  • Is a classification for language the same as a classification for perception?
  • Do linguistics, GIScientists, researchers in robotics and researchers in spatial cognition work with the same reference frames for motion?

Please submit papers dealing with any of these topics. All submitted papers will be carefully evaluated based on originality, significance, technical soundness, and clarity of expression. All submissions must be in English. Submissions should be in PDF format. Contributions are invited for either short papers (max. 4 pages) or long papers (max. 10 pages). Failure to commit to presentation at the conference automatically excludes a paper from the proceedings. Each paper will be given 30 minutes (including discussion). The working language will be English.

Contributions to the workshop are to be formated according to the Springer Lecture Notes guidelines: http://www.springer.de/comp/lncs/authors.html.
