If you are interested in doctoral research leading to a PhD degree, or as a Post-Doc, you are invited to contact me by email; making reference to this website; attaching your CV and explaining your interest in this research in a 1-page A4 letter motivating your application. There are some positions available; financial support may be possible.
In general the research is based on a mathematical formalism and requires a decent background of basic mathematics and a level of creativity in formulating questions and possible routes to solutions. My experience is that starting PhD students pick up the required mathematical level within a few months. Recent work involves also (theoretical) applications and illustrations and simulations (written in Matlab code).
I believe scientific research is best done in a spirit of cooperation and discussion in particular with the promotor (in case of doctoral research) and the members of the SYSTeMS group. It is therefore important that you can relate to the work I am interested in.
