I am a postdoctoral researcher in the Generative Initiatives in Syntactic Theory project at Ghent University. I specialize in generative syntax with a secondary focus on semantics. My work particularly focuses on the syntax and semantics of ellipsis (especially clausal ellipsis), dialect and register variation (particularly syntactic and semantic features of dialects of English, especially Scottish English, and of ‘reduced written register’ such as diaries, text messages, headlines etc.), and cartographic approaches to syntax.
As of August 2015, I will be moving to the Norwegian University of Science and Technology (NTNU) in Trondheim to take up a position as Associate Professor (Førsteamanuensis) in Modern English Language and Linguistics.
- List of output – papers, handouts, etc.
- If you are a UMass linguistics student (or indeed even if you aren't, although the template has some UMass-y features) and you want to put together a poster for presentation at a conference, I've put together a LaTeX style file (for use with beamer) and a template .tex file that might help. Style file here; template file here. Instructions are in the comments in these files. I'm afraid it doesn't play well with pdflatex for some reason. Sample output: my 2013 LSA poster.
